Kim Hunter Reed and Donna Lynne Join Youth Apprenticeship Nonprofit’s Board of Directors
DENVER – Nov. 16, 2022 – CareerWise today announced two new members to its board of directors. Kim Hunter Reed and Donna Lynne have joined the nonprofit’s board to help support and guide the growing modern youth apprenticeship movement.
“CareerWise—and modern youth apprenticeship in general—is continuing to gather momentum across the country,” said CareerWise founder and CEO Noel Ginsburg. “As that momentum builds, it’s attracting more students, educators and fortune 100 employers. And, we’re in the fortunate position that it is also gathering some of the nation’s leaders in education and industry such as Kim Hunter Reed and Donna Lynn.”
Kim Hunter Reed, Ph.D., is Louisiana’s Commissioner of Higher Education. As the former executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, she is the only female in the country currently serving as a state higher education lead who has led that office in more than one state. Reed was recognized nationally as the 2020 Exceptional Leader by the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association (SHEEO) and is a nationally recognized student advocate with extensive higher education and government experience.
Reed also served in President Barack Obama’s administration as deputy undersecretary at the U.S. Department of Education where she led the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Collectively, Reed has served in various senior leadership roles with four governors.
Donna Lynne, DrPH, is the CEO of Denver Health. Previously, she was the senior vice president and chief operating officer of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and the CEO of Columbia Doctors, an 1800-member faculty practice organization. Until early 2019, Lynne was Colorado’s 49th Lieutenant Governor and chief operating officer.
Prior to assuming her roles in Colorado state government, Dr. Lynne served as the executive vice president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and as group president responsible for its Colorado, Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii regions. She participated in numerous boards and commissions during her time at Kaiser Permanente, including the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Denver Public Schools Foundation Board, and many others.
